What does Profit Margin Calculator do?
Calculate gross margin, markup, gross profit and target selling price. Enter the values that describe your project or data. You can review the calculation method, adjust assumptions and export results without creating an account. This tool is designed for practical estimates or local text processing—not a substitute for professional verification when money, safety or compliance is involved.
How to use this tool
- Review the fields: Sales revenue, Total cost, Target gross margin (%).
- Enter your own values and choose Calculate / Generate. Default examples help explain the workflow; replace them with your real values.
- Check the output and the limitations displayed beside it. Use Copy Result or Download CSV to reuse your findings.
- For repeated work, open Bulk mode and paste a CSV in the field order shown. Up to 200 records can be validated independently with per-row errors.
Formula, methodology and limitations
Gross margin = (revenue – costs) / revenue × 100; markup = profit / costs × 100.
Units matter: supply all dimensions consistently and check whether the result is a theoretical estimate, a direct conversion or a recommended planning quantity. Rounding is applied only to displayed figures unless explicitly described. Inputs that would cause invalid calculations are rejected.
Worked example and interpretation
The default workspace includes a realistic demonstration using Sales revenue: 150; Total cost: 90; Target gross margin (%): 40. Select Calculate / Generate to inspect the exact result. Change one assumption at a time to understand how it affects the output. The local form is ready to use without uploading your data.
Frequently asked questions
Is Profit Margin Calculator free?
Yes. There is no account requirement, and the calculations shown are available in the browser at no charge.
Can I process more than one calculation?
Yes. Open Bulk mode and provide CSV rows in the exact order of the visible input fields. Each row is processed separately, subject to browser memory and the 200-row limit.
How accurate are the results?
Gross margin = (revenue – costs) / revenue × 100; markup = profit / costs × 100. Results depend on the values and assumptions you supply. For regulated, structural, medical, taxation or business-critical decisions, verify independently with current official guidance.
Does Solvory upload my input data?
This calculator’s computations are performed locally in your browser. The tool does not intentionally send entered values to Solvory’s servers for calculation.
