THE WORKFLOW, EXPLAINED

How to MOV to MP4 online

An MOV file may contain H.264, HEVC, ProRes or other video formats. Changing .mov to .mp4 does not convert codecs. A remux can avoid re-encoding when streams are compatible; otherwise a full export changes the video bitstream.

  1. Select one or more MOV files and review the source details.
  2. Choose Auto (try fast remux first), Compatible H.264, or a custom quality preset.
  3. Start processing and inspect the converted MP4 before sharing.

MOV is a container, not a single codec

An MOV file may contain H.264, HEVC, ProRes or other video formats. Changing .mov to .mp4 does not convert codecs. A remux can avoid re-encoding when streams are compatible; otherwise a full export changes the video bitstream. This workspace uses browser-local media codecs for output creation. First-time processing may require downloading a sizable WebAssembly engine; conversion speed, available encoders and supported formats depend on the device, source file and browser. Review the exported video or audio before relying on it professionally.
