THE WORKFLOW, EXPLAINED

How to normalize audio volume online

Decibels of gain change signal amplitude; LUFS measurements better approximate average perceived loudness. Loudness normalization can require dynamic processing and peak limiting to prevent clipping. No automated setting fixes a severely distorted recording.

  1. Upload an audio file and preview the source.
  2. Choose Gain or Loudness Normalization, a target level and peak ceiling.
  3. Render, compare the output at matched listening conditions and inspect peaks.

Peak level is not perceived loudness

Decibels of gain change signal amplitude; LUFS measurements better approximate average perceived loudness. Loudness normalization can require dynamic processing and peak limiting to prevent clipping. No automated setting fixes a severely distorted recording. This workspace uses browser-local media codecs for output creation. First-time processing may require downloading a sizable WebAssembly engine; conversion speed, available encoders and supported formats depend on the device, source file and browser. Review the exported video or audio before relying on it professionally.
