Create image memes and animated GIFs online

Upload one or more images, position captions directly on the preview and choose typeface, color, outline, scale and rotation. Export a square meme PNG or JPG at the chosen canvas dimensions. For GIFs, add multiple image frames; the encoder creates an actual animated GIF file with frame delays, rather than saving a PNG under a GIF extension.

GIF frame and browser performance limits

The GIF generator uses an indexed 256-color palette and a 400px-wide render to keep local memory manageable. Complex gradients will display visible palette banding. This browser-first workspace does not currently output MP4 or preserve animation when a preexisting GIF is imported as a still frame.

Choose a licensed photo and use movable layers to put text where it stays readable. Customize alignment, font outline, color, size, rotation and canvas aspect ratio. Static meme exports use PNG or JPG. Adding several image frames unlocks an actual GIF89a animation with adjustable frame delay; one imported still image cannot create motion by itself.

Meme export settings and image quality

GIF files have an indexed palette and can show banding in smooth gradients. For crisp text and brand assets, use PNG. Preview your captions at mobile dimensions before sharing. Ensure uploaded templates are your own or licensed for your use.
