How to use GIF Compressor

Compress animated GIFs while retaining frame timing. Adjust palette quality and output scale, preview and batch download.

  1. Choose one or more compatible files using the drag-and-drop upload area.
  2. Adjust the settings shown for this specific conversion workflow.
  3. Select Convert Files, then inspect progress, results and file-size feedback.
  4. Download each completed file or download all successful results as a ZIP.

What does this tool do?

The GIF is decoded frame-by-frame then re-encoded with adjustable palette quantization. Scaling down can reduce size; an already optimized GIF may not shrink.

Example: Try 75% output scale and balanced palette quality for a large reaction GIF, then compare source and result sizes.

Inputs are limited to 12 files, 25 MB per file and 100 MB combined, with additional format-specific limits. The conversion may change or omit source metadata. Save original files and verify consequential output in a compatible application.

Frequently asked questions

Will it keep animation?

Yes, supported GIF frame sequences and delays are processed; unsupported or oversized files show errors.

Can I guarantee smaller GIF files?

No. A GIF may grow after re-encoding; in that case the unchanged original is returned.

Will colors change?

GIF uses a limited palette. Re-encoding may introduce banding and differences around transparent pixels.

What is the frame limit?

A maximum of 100 frames and 45 million total decoded pixels per file applies.

Privacy, performance and compatibility

This free tool processes selected files locally in your browser. Required third-party code libraries are downloaded from content delivery networks, which may receive normal connection metadata, but uploaded source files are not sent to a Solvory conversion server by this utility. Browser codecs, available device memory and file complexity determine what can be processed. Unsupported formats show an error.
